History

Firstly introduced by Caedrel on his Twitch livestream show on 1 June 2024, the concept of joining the NLC with two other players, namely, Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek and Simon “Thebausffs” Hofverberg, also referred to as Baus, was discussed. According to reports, Nemesis was formerly an LEC player, having featured on two editions of the League of Legends World Championship, and Baus was a guest caster and analyst in the 2021 LEC season. Following the said event, Caedrel made the following announcement in November 2024 about founding a professional gaming team named “Los Ratones”. The members of the team included Nemesis and Baus, who were appointed as midlaner and toplaner, respectively, Veljko “Velja” Čamdžić (jungler), Juš “Crownie” Marušič (ADC), and Carl Martin Erik “Rekkles” Larsson (support), with Caedrel as the team’s head coach. Notably, prior to joining the mentioned team, Rekkles used to play for T1 Esports Academy in the LCK Challengers League.

Name origin

The name “Los Ratones” came into existence on 17 September 2023 through the “Caedrel Plays” (renamed “Caedrel2”) YouTube channel, one of the three YouTube channels of Caedrel where he plays games other than “League of Legends,” during a video of him playing “Teamfight Manager,” a video game in which players can become esport managers and which can be downloaded from the digital store Steam, when he typed “Los Ratones” as his team’s name on the game.

Scrim streams

Los Ratones is famous for being the first professional team of League of Legends to stream a majority of their scrims live. Scrims refer to practice games conducted by professional teams prior to competition. Scrims tend to be held privately in League of Legends to ensure that the strategies used in these private practices are not made available during competitions. In the days where Los Ratones is scheduled for scrims, Los Ratones would expect to have tens of thousands of viewers on the streams hosted on Caedrel and the personal streams of the players themselves.

Events and Competitions

In his update video released through the team’s YouTube channel few days after winning the EMEA Masters for the first time in his video on 30 March 2025, Marc “Caedrel” Lamont the founder and head coach of Los Ratones, revealed the dream of the team to join the Tier 1 region in the future. Before the upload of the video, many fans had expressed their desire to see Los Ratones play in the top-tier League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC), which offers teams a platform to compete in international tournaments such as First Stand Tournament, Mid-Season Invitational, and the League of Legends World Championship.

Due to the franchise system currently running in the League of Legends European Championship since 2019, the dream of Los Ratones will be deemed unrealistic since the team will either need to buy a slot in an existing club in the league or form partnerships without losing the identity of the team. However, alternatively, Caedrel mentioned the option of Los Ratones competing in the North American Challengers League in order to earn the guest slot in the defunct League of Legends Championship of The Americas North Conference (later rebranded into the League Championship Series).
